"Delts Against Diabetes" Silent Art Auction

Delta Tau Delta at Babson College is a student-run organization that constantly strives to serve the community. Through our philanthropies, we demonstrate to our members, as well as to members of the Babson Community the importance of supporting local charities. Our art auction, which we hold annually, supports our national fraternity’s charity, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Through its research, JDRF strives to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. Since its founding in 1970, JDRF has raised $1.7 million for research toward T1D, a disease that affects three million people in the U.S. alone.

The “Delts Against Diabetes” Silent Art Auction was first held on October 24, 2013 in Babson’s Glavin Family Chapel. Led by student-artist and current Delta Tau Delta President, Michael MacDonald, the auction featured over fifty pieces of artwork from artists in the Boston area. The event received a great turnout of Babson students, faculty, and staff who collectively took home over forty pieces of artwork. By the end of the evening, the auction raised $3,627, a record total for Babson Greek philanthropies! All of the proceeds from the event were donated to JDRF in support of their efforts to cure Type 1 Diabetes. Given the success of this event, the men of Delta Tau Delta are planning to hold this event again next fall.

Our chapter is currently recruiting artists to donate their own artwork to our auction in the fall! The success of our auction last year would not have been possible had it not been for the generous donations from artists in the Boston area. We accept all kinds of artwork (from paintings to sculptures) and would love to include your work in our show! If you are interested in donating artwork or know someone who might be interested, please reach out to us using the "Contact Information" tab. We appreciate all donations!
